Overview of Windows Operating System

Operating system is a system software which runs the internal operations of the computer. It prepares the computer for our use. It loads into the computer through the boot program when the computer is started.

  • Window 1 is an operating system developed by Microsoft Company.
  • In the window operating system, programs open in one window.
  • Many programs can be opened simultaneously in different windows. That is why it is called window operating system.
  • In the old operating system (Dos Based), commands or instructions were given to the computer by typing them.
  • Due to which we had to remember all the commands. After the development of the window operating system, we can give instructions to the computer by clicking on the icon on the monitor.
  • Windows 1 has all the features of the older version of Windows up to Windows 8. It is more advanced and stable. New online features and security have been added to it.
  • Its interface is new. Live tiles and hot corners are provided in it.
  • Windows Defender Antivirus has been made available to keep our programs safe and protect them from viruses.

  • The process of starting a computer is called booting. On switching on the CPU, the computer checks its parts, after which it loads the operating system with the help of bootstep loading.
  • This process takes from a few seconds to a few minutes depending on the capacity of the computer processor, this process is called booting.

 

Shutdown:-

  • By going to the start button and clicking on the shutdown option, the process of shutting down the computer will begin, in which the computer will sequentially close its open software and unload the operating system. After this the computer will turn off the power.

 

Restarting:-Overview of Windows Operating System
  • According to some software requirements, sometimes the computer has to be shut down and then restarted immediately. This is done by using the restart button below shutdown.

start → shut down → restart → ok

 

Hibernate –Overview of Windows Operating System
  • This option is available in laptops. Whenever the laptop has to be used after a long time, this option is used. After hibernating, when the computer is opened again, it starts back in its previous state. That is, whatever program and file was open while hibernating will open again.

 

Login –
  • If more than one person is using a computer, then all the users can create their own separate accounts. This will prevent the users from seeing each other’s files. The user has to login while starting his account. For this, he has to enter his ID and password. After the work is over, he closes his account by pressing the logout button on the start screen. The second user will log in to his account by entering his ID and password.

 

Log Off –
  • Logging off in Windows 8.1 refers to the process of ending a user session on the operating system. When a user logs off, all applications and processes associated with that user account are closed, and the user is returned to the login screen. This action ensures that no one else can access the user’s files or applications without entering the correct credentials.
